An Avvo.com Q&A user asked:

Should I get a personal injury lawyer? I was in target one morning and was heading to check out pushing my buggy and I went down straight on my bottom. I was 38 weeks pregnant I started hurting really bad couldn’t hardly put any pressure on my left side. I filled out a accident report there and my husband came and got me to take me to the ER. I was contracting but was only dilated to a 3 so they gave me some meds and they sent me home well 5 hrs later I was hurting so bad I couldn’t get up it hurt to walk and climb on the bed so finally I went back to the ER where my contraction picked up and I was dilated to a 5. We’ll 6:23 AM 7 hrs later I had my baby. My placenta had a rip in it and a blood clot. Since then Target has kept in contact and said willing to settle but I’m in physical therapy for my pain I’m still having.

Our response

You definitely have a potentially valuable personal injury case, and you should contact a personal injury lawyer right away. We would need to know if there was some negligence involved, ie was the floor wet with no warning, did the buggy malfunction for some reason or some other negligence on the part of Target. If so, you may have a valuable case for your accident.
